The earliest item in this series relate to Edward Mellish (d. 1626), merchant tailor, whose partnership with Richards Turgis was continued by his eldest son John, who purchased Blyth in 1635. The other items mainly relate to the business affairs of Williams Mellish (1764-1838) and their settlement following his death in 1838. The items were listed in a previous catalogue as Me X B 1-2)
