Description

Copy probate of the will of Hannah Grant, widow, deceased

to Treasurer for use of Lancasterian School at Leighton Buzzard

- £300 to be paid out of personal estate with 6 months after her decrease

... to beloved granddaughter Adelaide Anna Darby - £10,000.

motive for giving her above sum and not making any bequest in favour of granddaughter, Matilda Frances Darby, her elder sister, is because in will of John Grant, testator's late husband, it is directed that on her decease or giving up banking business at Leighton Buzzard, Abraham Darby, the husband of Matilda Frances Darby, shall become entitled to take testator's share in said banking business, and because Abraham Darby is in affluent circles, so that she considers said M F Darby will be provided for as well as or greater than A A Darby.

... to nephew, William Grant, of Lichborough, Northants - £50

... to niece Mary Lawford of Leighton Buzzard - £100

above legacies to be paid within 6 months after her decease.

... to Benjamin Middleton Fox, Samuel Fox and Joseph Fox, the 3 sons of Samuel and Maria Fox of Tottenham, Middx

- £300 each, at 21 and not otherwise. Without interest and subject to deduction for such sums as she may advance them in her lifetime

... to use of beloved daughter, Hannah Darby - all real and personal estate

Said bequest, and that to A A Darby, to be for separate use independent of their husbands
