Annual administration report of the Bombay Presidency, providing a summary record of the main events and developments in each department of the Government of Bombay during the financial year 1883-84. The report was printed at the Government Central Press, Bombay [Mumbai] in 1884. The report is divided into three parts. Part I comprises a report 'SUMMARY' (ff 7-26). Part II (ff 27-146) comprises three maps of the Bombay Presidency followed by chapters I-IX. Part III comprises 'Statistical Returns' pertaining to chapters I-VII and IX (ff 147-238). PART II comprises the following:. 'CHAPTER I. POLITICAL. TRIBUTARY STATES' (ff 31-53), consisting of: Gujarát [Gujarat] States; Southern Gujarát; Marátha [Maratha] States; Sátára Jágirs [Satara Jagir States]; Southern Marátha States; Sind [Sindh] State; Aden; 'CHAPTER II. ADMINISTRATION OF THE LAND' (ff 54-58), consisting of: Surveys; Settlements; Waste Lands; Government Estates; Wards' Estates and other Estates under Government management; 'CHAPTER III. PROTECTION' (ff 59-83), consisting of: Course of Legislation; Police; Criminal Justice; Prisons; Civil Justice; Registration; Municipal Administration; Military; Marine; 'CHAPTER IV. PRODUCTION AND DISTRIBUTION' (ff 84-118), consisting of: Agriculture; Weather and Crops; Horticulture; Forests; Mines and Quarries; Manufactures; Trade; Public Works (including five railway company route maps on folios 106-110); Irrigation. Folio 88 comprises a table of graphs showing 'Monthly abnormal variations of the meteorological elements in 1883-84'; 'CHAPTER V. REVENUE AND FINANCE' (ff 118-129), consisting of: Mint; Currency; Land Revenue; Canal Revenue; Customs; Opium; Salt; Excise; Stamps; License Tax; Local Funds; Municipal Revenues; 'CHAPTER VI.
