A SCARCE and Superb “MACHINE GUN CORPS - MESOPOTAMIA - BATTLE OF SHARQAT - 29th OCTOBER 1918” MILITARY CROSS Group of THREE to LIEUTENANT Eric WALKER of 136th MACHINE GUN COMPANY, 28th Brigade, 17th INDIAN DIVISION. A Colleague of VICTORIA CROSS RECIPIENT Lieutenant John Graham of 136th MGC. Having been Commissioned in December 1915 into the East Lancashire Regiment, Walker arrived in EGYPT in JANUARY 1916, soon transferring to the Machine Gun Corps seeing action against the TURKISH ARMY in PALESTINE (Israel) & MESOPOTAMIA (Iraq) 1916-1918. Commanding a TWO VICKERS MACHINE GUN Section, he was awarded the MILITARY CROSS in the London Gazette of 11th January 1919 with a superb 'FIGHTING CITATION'.
