Gift of the site of Penruddock School (Andrew Hudleston, Esq., Lord of the Manor of Hutton John, to Andrew Hudleston the younger, Esq., and eight others, as trustees) at Penruddock Townhead, "lately taken up" from the Manor's wastes and commons, and the schoolhouse lately built on it, already in use (22 ft. east to west, 18 ft. north to south); reciting that "nothing conduceth more to the Welfare and happiness of all Degrees of People in this World than a true Religious Pious and Virtuous Education in their Youth", and that the manor lacks a school as yet; the school to be open to the children of the free and customary tenants and other inhabitants of the manor and neighbourhood for teaching them "all good and Usefull Literature and in the sound Principals of Christ's Holy Religion"; provision for election of new trustees; ban on use of schoolhouse for any other purpose than as school
