Black half-leather album, 280x377mm, containing mounted prints with captions in Curzon's own hand. The titles are stamped in gold on both the front and back covers. The album is in two parts. Prints 1-15 are views of 'Central Asia' with a handwritten heading inside which reads 'Photographs of Central Asia (Transcaspea & Turkestan), 1888'. Some of these were used to illustrate his book Russia in Central Asia, a note below the relevant print gives the page number. In his Introduction Curzon thanks M. Lessar, former political attaché to the Russian Staff on the Afghan Boundary Commission, for the loan of some photographs. Prints 16-35 are views of 'Turkish Arabia etc' with a handwritten heading inside which reads 'Photographs of Turkish Arabia, mostly taken by self, 1889-90'. These prints are seen by turning the album over and reading back. There are also 8 loose views of Italy.
