The Oglanders landed interest in Adgeston began with the purchase of Jordans by Thomas Oglander in 1500 from his first cousin, William Fitchett of Shapwich, Dorset. This, with a few minor additions in the seventeenth century, notably Copped Hall purchased in 1635, was the estate which the Oglanders still owned here at the beginning of the twentieth century.
