WO90/8/60 Court Martial; 23/03/1919 at Cas a Valle (Italy) S37 (1)/S 40 x 3 - Insane - quashed by S of S 14/5/1919 - Proceedings of GCM at Casa Valle, Italy 23/3/1919 - I desire to say that in my opinion the evidence would have justified the Court in finding accused NG of 1st and 4th charges on the grounds that as a result of a blow to the head, he did not know what he was doing when he commited the alleged offences, but that it did not justify them in finding that he was insane at the time. In these circumstances I am of the opinion that proceedings should be quashed. The proceeding of the Court Marshal of 2/Lt Houghton who was tried and found G of a charge of striking Lt Kerry on the head with a rifle have been forwarded for inspection by the Adjt Gen. Signed Kenneth Marshall, DJAG 26/4/1919
