This charity was established in premises at Deeply Vale in July 1905 to provide holidays in the countryside for poor or convalescent children from Bury, several hundred of whom spent time there each year. In 1908, the Home moved to premises at Birtle Edge. During World War I, it was briefly used to house Belgian refugees
