Also includes a sale particular for the property, eight plots of building land in Little East Street and a house in St John Street (formerly used as a brewery and beer house) for sale at auction by Verrall and Son at the Crown Hotel, Lewes, 31 Aug 1870. In 1745 Samuel Isted left a piece of land (2 acres) in All Saints to his son Ambrose who in 1748 sold it to William Durrant, mercer. Durrants son Samuel died in 1783 and his son William sold it to William Cooper, gent in 1787. He then in 1793, sold to Amon Wilds, carpenter, the property now described as part of a field of 2 acres adjoining west on the high road from the New Market to the House of Correction and on the south to houses lately erected by Amon Wilds. Wilds built a house on the site and also purchased in 1801 a piece of land on the opposite side of the road, being the south west corner of Dobells Field which from 1664 had been owned by the Dobell, Trayton, Fuller, Bayford, Hoper and Turner families. In 1818 Wilds sold both properties to James Moore, surgeon, on whose death in 1821 they passed to his widow and to trustees including John Rickman who sold in 1835 to Miles Verrell, gent On his death in 1855 it passed to trustees and then to his son John Miles Verrall in 1870. He sold in 1872 to George Fuller who sold to Richard Lambe in 1879. It then passed by will in 1885 to Robert Lambe who sold to William James in 1895. He then mortgaged the premises to Latter Parsons in 1896.
