Probate copy of will of Mary Rowley of Laton Buzard, co. Bedford, widow, containing the following bequests:
To her brother in law John Foulds, £100
To her daughter in law Sarah Rowley, £20
To Mary Springthorp, £5 to buy her mourning
To her sister Elizabeth Foulds, wife of the said John Foulds, the free use for life of her silver escollopped tea table and waiter, her silver candlesticks and snuff pann, pearl necklace, gold chased watch and gold chains and two seals, diamond girdle buckle, diamond ring, workt bed, bedding and quilt; and after her decease to her neice Mary Foulds, daughter of Elizabeth, and in the event of Mary's prior decease to the eldest living daughter of Elizabeth
To William Round of London, gentleman and John Ash of Old Bethlehem, London, hemp-dresser, £500 on trust to be placed out at interest upon the public funds or other good security and the interest paid to her sister Elizabeth Foulds until her niece Mary should attain the age of 15, then the interest to be paid to Mary until she attained the age of 21 or was married, when she was to be paid the capital sum of £500
Item, all her messuages and lands in Oldford, co. Middlesex to her sister Elizabeth Foulds for her sole and separate use and her heirs for ever
And the residue of her estate to William Round and John Ash on trust to be converted to ready money and invested and the interest paid to her sister Elizabeth, and after her death to be divided amongst her children.
Her sister Elizabeth Foulds to be sole executrix
And lastly to William Round and John Ash £10 apiece.
Witnesses: Ri. Dacres, Tho. Beach, Wm. Gwynn.
Proved 2 January 1744 at London before the worshipful Robert Champan, doctor of laws, surrogate to the right worshipful John Bettesworth, and administration granted to Elizabeth Foulds (wife of John Foulds) the sole executrix.
