The covers of the deed packets mention the Castle Publishing Company of Preston. They purchased property in the area from Atherton Brothers Ltd in 1978. In a Barrett's Directory of Preston and District for 1953, Castle Publishing were Christmas card publishers, based at Anchor Court, 37 Market Place, Preston, while Atherton Brothers were machine makers at the Hanover Street Foundry in Great George Street.
