Administrative / biographical background

Billing's Charity provided for the setting up of poor boys of Coventry between the ages of 13 and 16 as apprentices from the rents of land in Lutterworth, Leics, Gosford Street, Coventry, etc. in addition to providing for their schooling. Crow's Charity provided for the setting up of two to four boys of Coventry as apprentices yearly.
