Description

These collections comprise a mixture of Munby's own correspondence and papers (Add.MS8203 (part), 8214, 8217, 8218, 8229) and manuscripts which he collected (Add.MS8199-8202, 8204-8216, 8219-8228).

Munby (who was known as Tim, as in some of the correspondence here) is referred to as ANLM in this list. The date and place of origin of each item has been given, along with dates of persons, where known, and a summary of the content of correspondence and orders.

Administrative / biographical background

Alan Noel Latimer Munby (1913-74), in whose memory the Munby Fellowship in the University Library was established, and after whom the Rare Books reading room was named, was a bibliographical historian, librarian and fellow of King's College, prisoner of war, and book collector.
