Description

Collection of 41 hand-coloured salted paper prints from calotype negatives, mounted on card measuring 348 x 470 mm, with contemporary hand-written captions at bottom left. A number of the prints are signed by Fiebig in the negative. The majority of the prints show scenes in Port Louis, with a few photographs of the sugar industry in the Plaines Wilhelms district. The photographs were presumably taken by Fiebig on the voyage back from India to England. See introduction to Photo 247/1 for a more detailed account of the collection as a whole.
