Description

North Atlantic Ocean: Bermuda: Ireland Island to Green Bay: Great Sound

Survey shows coastline, hydrography, buoys, jetties, wreck sites, topography, settlements, buildings, land marks and remarks, including 'The outlines from Lemprieres Chart published 1810. The soundings in Stag Passage are at high water. These in Great Sound low water June 1823'. Includes illustration of a ship in rough seas, by 'P Parker 1823'. Colour manuscript. Scale: 2.5 inches to 1 mile. Attributed to P Parker, as suggested by Becher. Endorsed with black ink: 'Recd [received] from Capt [Captain] Wm [William] Maude HMS Salisbury 2 January 1824' with monogram [illegible] and stamp: 'Hydrographical Office'. Estimated date: 1823, as suggested by Lieutenant Alexander Becher and illustration
