Precepts or writs addressed to the sheriff. These may have been part of the sessions bundles and sorted out into separate series in the 19th century. They are of two kinds, those ordering the sheriff to proclaim the sessions, assemble the juries etc and those ordering them to produce witnesses, defendants etc in specific cases.
