Administrative / biographical background

The original church of St Leonard Aldrington fell into disrepair during the 18th century. It was rebuilt on its 13th-century foundations in 1876-1878 with part of the original church incorporated into the new building. The earlier parish records have not survived. The burial registers date from 1864 and the baptism registers from 1869 with the remaining records all post-dating the rebuilding of the church.
