The Redevelopment Areas Sub-Committee was appointed in February 1951, following the reorganisation of the Estates Committee. It took on the roles of both the former Management and General Purpose Sub-Committee and the former Finance Sub-Committee from the Central Areas Management Committee (see BCC/1/CQ). It was to consider and report on accounts, payment of compensation and instalments of compensation, payment of ex-gratia allowances (in accordance with the recommendations of the District Valuer) relating to the vesting, management, improvement, repair and collection of rents and the disposal of properties situated in the five post-war Redevelopment Areas, namely Bath Row, Gooch Street, Summer Lane, Duddeston and Nechells and Ladywood.
