Three sets of two 20 horse power oscillating engines.Cross-section of the boat and engines and plan of the engines and boiler and beams etc., plan of the engine deck beams and longitudinal section of the engine room and boiler (mistitled "Danube 17") - coloured reverse drawings made in the London office; sections and plan of boiler - partially coloured drawing made in the London office marked "not adopted"; section and plan of boiler - partially coloured original and partially coloured reverse drawings made in the London office and used for all 3 boats; longitudinal section of boiler - partially coloured original and partially coloured reverse drawings; steam and feed pipes - partially coloured original and partially coloured reverse drawings and tracing of reverse drawing; pumps and pipes for bilge water and for pumping out boiler - partially coloured original drawing; bilge and hand pump, feed, waste water and injection pipes, emptying pipes etc. for 1st and 2nd pairs of engines - partially coloured original and partially coloured reverse drawings; hand and bilge pump - coloured reverse drawing; bilge, hand and hot water pumps, feed, injection, emptying and blow out pipes etc. for 3rd pair of engines - partially coloured reverse drawing; press copy memorandum of weight of the three pairs of engines as sent off (also the weight of the Stephen's engines) - 2 sheets. All the drawings except those made in the London office bear letter codes.
Original Portfolio or 'Book' No. 930. Catalogue of Old Engines p. 320.
For the Imperial & Royal Danube Steam Navigation Co. Archduke Lewis was initially called Ludwig. The drawings were initially made for Archduke Lewis and then used for the other two boats. Henry Hazleton allocated a separate portfolio number to each boat despite the fact that they did not have separate drawings; Archduke Lewis was Pf. 1182, Franz Carl was Pf. 1183, and Hermione was Pf. 1184.
