Transf MGC Aug 1917 where he remained as Training Officer until he died at Belton Park Mil Hosp 24/11/18 of pneumonia following influenza. Buried in Londonthorpe Cem. His CO wrote"……You ought to be proud of your husband and what he did in the war - I always liked and trusted him and I think we all realized out there in France that he was always one who did his best. I especially realized this on Aug 24th 1916 when the Bn made a big attack at Delville Wood. Your husband was one of the three unwounded officers of the Bn who remained at the end of the day and I can so well remember even now, how gallantly and cheerfully he carried on." He was married at Lewisham on 1/2/16 to Catherine Helena (67 Southbrook Road, Lee) d. of Capt EC Baker. Without issue.
