Description

This series consists of publications, correspondence and artwork of the British Museum (Natural History) Department of Mineralogy.

It comprises copies of booklets and guides to the Mineral Gallery marked up with additions and corrections for reprinting papers relating to publication of the 'Discovery' report, and coloured artwork for the series of mineral postcards produced during the 1920s.

Administrative / biographical background

Departments were responsible for their own publications until 1954, when RJ Drumm was appointed Museum Publications officer to coordinate planning and production. A publication Section evolved over the years until, in 1975, all publications planning and production was carried out centrally.
