Contains inventories registers. Inventories were prepared and presented in court as part of the probate process (the proving of wills and related testamentary business). They list the deceased's belongings and their values, including such items as household goods, tools, and personal items (often room by room), and any debts owing to him or her.
For example:
Inventory of the goods of John Durkyn of Marden, Kent, deceased, made by John Furner, Edward Cutbush and George Daie of Marden, Kent. 7 June 1600. The inventory is arranged by room and by property and gives prices of the items and total sum:
'In the Hall'
Table, cupboard, settle, chair, little table, bible, fire of brandirons, three painted clothes...
The inventory includes contents of Cheese House and numbers of cattle kept in Yalding, Kent (DCb/PRC/21/16).
