Arrangement (Information about the filing sequence or logical order of the record)
-
Amongst the records transferred to the Diocesan Record Office by the Bishop's Registrar, Chapter Clerk and the Church Commissioners at different times were a few documents which were neither episcopal nor capitular in origin. All have the Church Commissioners' numbers on them, but, except for the Tarring Rectory court books, all those received from Messrs. Eggar of Chichester had strayed from their records qua local agents of the Commissioners into those qua Bishop's Registrar. Others were deposited by the Church Commissioners in February 1968 (Acc. 2481). All these records are now catalogued here as the Church Commissioners' Sussex records, but it must always be remembered that the Church Commissioners also deposited many of those records catalogued as episcopal and capitular.
