These records were created by the commission but there are no records for who deposited them at the Church of England Record Centre, or when this happened. At CERC they were grouped with other Archbishops' Commissions to form the artificial fonds CERC: AC. These catalogue entries were migrated from the records management sytem in September 2012 and the records moved to Lambeth Palace Library when the two institutions combined in 2021.
Administrative / biographical background

The Committee was established as an informal group of members of both Convocations in 1961 with Chancellor E Garth Moore as the Chairman. The other members were Chancellor K J T Elphinstone; Carlyle Witton Davies, Archdeacon of Oxford; John Parker Pellow, Archdeacon of Wisbech and O H Woodforde. J A Guillum Scott was the Secretary and Miss Allan provided further secretarial assistance.Their terms of reference were to "consider generally the question of deconsecration of consecrated land and buildings with particular reference to (a) the provision of some legal and effective method for deconsecration and (b) the provision, if needed, of some spiritual act or service by which the deconsecration may be effected."
