Description (What the record is about)

On the death of Miles Stapleton of Carlton in 1836 without issue, he was succeeded by his cousin Thomas Stapleton (died 1839). In 1840 the abeyance of the barony of Beaumont was terminated in favour of the latter's son. Miles Thomas Stapleton, who had succeeded to the estates and became 8th Baron. He died in 1854 and was succeeded by his son, a minor.
