Administrative / biographical background

The church is dedicated to St Margaret. In 1930 the consolidated chapelry of St Mark Kemptown was formed partly out of Rottingdean. In 1963 Saltdean St Nicholas, PAR 523, became a conventional district, and was created a separate parish in 1969. In 1974 Rottingdean became part of united benefice with Ovingdean and Woodingdean.
