7/7/1916 I am commanded by the Army Council to inform you that proceedings of the General Court Martial held at Grantham on 15/6/1916 for trial of 2/Lt Wilfred Maurice Hastwell 10® Bn Bedford Regt, att 12 Depot Coy MGC, have been laid before HM the King.
Charge 1: Absenting himself w/o leave (6/5/1916 to 7/5/1916)
Charge 2: conduct prejudicial to good order and military discipline, at the Railway Stn, Grantham on 7/5/1916 when asked for his name by the APM, gave a false name.
Found Guilty and sentenced to be dismissed the service - commuted to loss of seniority to 15/6/1916.

War Diary 153 Coy - killed by shellfire 9/4/1917;
