Three programmes on folk song and ballad, introduced by Charles Parker, with songs by Ewan MacColl and Peggy Seeger for use in schools, recorded for BBC Schools for the summer term 1966. The programmes were part of a series on 'Good and Evil'. The three programmes were 'Songs of the Frontier', about borders; 'Flash Lads and Hard Cases', about heroes; and 'The Fire in the Middle' about love. 'Songs of the Frontier' was broadcast on 27 April 1966, 'Flash Lads & Hard Cases' was broadcast on 4 May 1966 and 'The Fire in the Middle' was broadcast on 11 May 1966.
Performers were: A. L. Lloyd, Peggy Seeger, Ewan MacColl, Frankie Armstrong, Gordeanna McCulloch, Sarah Makem, Paul Lennihan, Tom Parley, and Bobby Campbell on fiddle.
