Description

By subscribers who had contributed to a fund for a portrait of him to be painted and presented to the Corporation of Birmingham in recognition of his 'advocacy of the cause of peoples and freedom', 'efforts in the education of Artisans and others' and 'labours in the promotion of the principles of Peace and Brotherhood'.

Note: The illuminator was O. Whateley, 63 Victoria Road, Aston.
