Deposited on 6th November 1946 by Captain G.F. Weld Blundell, R.N., 28th lord of Ince Blundell.

Richard Blundell first appears as lord of Ince in the late twelfth century and from him it--together with the extensive properties purchased by Robert Blundell in the mid-seventeenth century--descended to Charles Robert Blundell who died in 1837, devising his property to a distant kinsman, Thomas Weld of Lulworth Castle, co. Dorset. who took the additional name of Blundell.
