The Society was founded in 1843 and the first pastor was Samuel Dunster. They met at a chapel in Lower Venn. In 1850 they moved to a larger building, known as Venn Chapel. They were ejected from the Chapel in 1860. The Society returned briefly to the Lower Venn Chapel until the new church was built at a site at Stony Napps, known as St Ebenezer's.
