DEEDS AND PAPERS RELATING TO THE ESTATES OF THE ANDREWS' FAMILY OF PERSHORE, WORCESTERSHIRE, AND THE WEALL FAMILY OF PINNER
This collection relates to the estates of the Andrews and Weall families, united by marriage. Or James Andrews, originally of Pershore, Worcestershire married Margaret Weall of Hampstead c.1872 (ACC/1058/182).
The first part of the catalogue contains the title deeds and other documents relating to the Andrews' estate in Pershore, Worcestershire (ACC/1058/001-077).
The second portion of the catalogue concerns the administration of the trust funds and estate of Margaret Andrews. The trust funds were set up under the wills of her great uncles John and Benjamin Weall. She was also to inherit the residue of the real estate of Benjamin Weall which consisted of houses in Watford, Hertfordshire and Headstone Farm and land at Pinner. The records consist of title deeds to the Pinner estate (ACC/1058/078-176), accounts of the trustees, correspondenceand conveyances of the estate to property developers (ACC/1058/177-302). The trustees' correspondence (ACC/1058/209 and 211) also throws light on the state of farming and agriculture in Middlesex during the 1880's. Another item of interest is the litigation started by Margaret Andrews against her trustees arising out of a dispute over law costs charged by the trustees to her estate. This resulted in a test case tried in the High Court, Chancery Division, 1889, in which Mrs Andrews was successful. The report in The Times called it 'a judgment of great importance and interest to trustees and their cestuis que trustent' (ACC/1058/222).
