Note The Society was formed at a meeting held at the Bedfordshire General Library on 28 September 1847, under the Chairmanship of Archdeacon H Tattam, 'for the purpose of publishing from time to time the various ancient churches and buildings in the county, and the local history of each parish, and for the general promotion of archaeological and architectural studies.'
