Deeds to land at Cradle Valley, Alfriston

In 1875 and 1877 Robert Lambe of Blatchington Court, Seaford, purchased two pieces of land in East Blatchington, Seaford and Alfriston with the messuages on them (shown on map) (HIL/6/32/3). In 1905 he sold them to the Seaford Company Ltd. In 1923 the company sold to Charles Joseph Bravery who in 1929 sold part (a piece of land abutting Seaford Golf Course on the south west; 15 acres, shown on plan) to Arthur Edgar Hobbs of Croydon in Surrey (HIL/6/32/1). Hobbs divided the land into plots and immediately sold plots 34a, 46-48 to C H Kirtlan, builder. In 1932 Hobbs sold his further plots - 41-43, 49-51 - to Kirtlan (HIL/6/32/2). In 1937 Kirtlan entered an agreement with ESCC for the preservation of the area as open space under section 34 of the Town and Country Planning Act of 1932 (HIL/6/32/5)
