Description (What the record is about)
-
The article deals with the development of testing at Ansty. Par 3: Mr Johnny Johnson, the present Test Superintendent at Ansty, moved from Parkside at that time as foreman of a small team of technicians. He has been working on jets since the company first entered the field with the ASX in 1943. With the subsequent development of the Python in 1944, the company was producing the most powerful jet engine in the world - the Python giving a development of 3,600 hp. Working up at the present, test houses were provided at Ansty for the Sapphire, Double Mamba, Adder, Viper, and more recently, our range of Maybach engines. Picture of Viper engine on test at Ansty. Picture of the test staff after the Python completed the first Ministry-approved test in 1949: Among them are Mr Johnny Johnson, Mr Charlie Patterson
