Description

Steam Boat Engines (9 items).

1142. Holyhead Packet Harlequin (PN & PO). May, Aug. 1824, Aug., Sep., Dec. 1830. 9 items.
Two 50 horse power side lever boat engines, with 39½ inch cylinders, 3½ foot strokes. Boat re-named Sprightly 1837.

For H. M. Post Office, Holyhead station. Harlequin was built by Wigram & Green of Blackwall, and originally worked from the Milford station. Boulton Watt & Co.'s engines, fitted in 1830, replaced the original engines made by Maudslay Sons & Field. She was re-named Sprightly in 1837 when the Navy took over the Post Office packet fleet.
