Description

Collection of materials relating to local history compiled by Ronald Baldwin, local historian and author. The collection focuses particularly on Gillingham and the Medway towns. The collection is currently stored in two batches. The first batch, consisting of books and bound items, has been fully catalogued and amalgamated with the Local History Collection (classmarks of DA1000+). The second batch is awaiting attention and is currently unprocessed, and include bound items, books, papers, ring binders of notes and cuttings, photographs and paper and parchment documents. The subjects it covers are wide-ranging and include Gillingham, Medway and Kent; Methodism (Baldwin was a Bible Christian); Chatham Dockyard; folk song, dialect and local customs; agriculture; maps.
