Description

Annual returns giving names of members of the Lodge at the Elm Tree Inn, Devizes [Antients] and general correspondence relating to the running of the lodge. Years 1796 - 1811 are not extant.

Administrative / biographical background

The unnamed lodge was established in 1792 and met at the Saracen's Head, Maryport Street, Devizes, Wiltshire. The long moved to several inns and taverns in Devizes but in 1812 the lodge settled at the Elm Tree Inn, Long Street, Devizes. The lodge's last meeting was on the 26 May 1826. The lodge furniture and regalia was then sold and the lodge was erased in 1827.
