23 Oct. Feels unable to continue taking the Sunday School owing to the bad behaviour of the boys "which I could no longer tolerate". To be succeeded on Advent Sunday by Mr. Phillips [schoolmaster]. [the author was Superintendant for 39 years]
23 Nov. Near Berkeley encountered the hunt, led by Lord Fitzhardinge and the whips - description of the scene
16 Dec. Resigned his office of Secretary of the local Lodge of the Gloucester Conservative Benefit Society, one he has held for very many years. Succeeded by Mr. Phillips
Reports that Churchdown Golf Club had taken 90 additional acres on lease from the Churchdown Land Co.
19 Dec. Has had lumbago for several weeks - no better

3 Jan. States that Dr. Moore continues "on the medical service to the local Lodge of the Gloucester Conservative Benefit Society" until 25th March. A general meeting will then decide about "the Insurance question - the Doctors do not like the supervision of a kind of Inspector who will watch their movements"
6 Jan. Annual Choir Supper. Full description
8 Jan. Discussion re. The Manor House, Churchdown. Stated to have been so styled by a Mr. Harris, a recent owner. Proper designation appeared to be "Chosen Hall"
19 Jan. Received a presentation in the school at 4pm, consisting of an easy chair, a writing table or bureau and "a chair to the same"
28 Jan. History of the Churchdown Almshouses, Richard Holford's will etc. set out
24 March Saw an aeroplane for the first time. Mr. Walker (a visitor) explained that if it had gone through a cloud instead of remaining beneath it rain would have fallen!
27 March He had "lumbago" for some time. Several faints this morning
21 April Informed that Dr. Foster "was going to take Miss Violet Seabrooke to wife shortly"
14 June Reference to the trial of Mr. Chance, a solicitor of Newnham, for misappropriation of money entrusted to him by clients
15 June Has slept little and felt unwell for some days. In the morning had "a sort of faint" and 3 others at intervals, "and was very poorly all day"
19 June An open air baptism of members of a sect "which have recently had meetings on George Holford's premises" took place in Norman's Brook in this parish on Sunday last
26 June Strike of building workers has commenced in Gloucester; consequently the new church at Wotton is not being proceeded with
