The 73 volumes and files forming the 'Oil and Minerals' subject files were produced by the Confidential Office at the Political Agency in Bahrain. The majority of the files and volumes date from 1932-1951 except for IOR/R/15/2/411, containing documents from 1916. The 'Oil and Minerals' subject files mainly contain correspondence between the Political Resident at Bushire, the Political Agent at Bahrain, other British authorities, local authorities and representatives of the oil companies on the subject of oil extraction and production in Bahrain, Qatar and Saudi Arabia. The topics covered include:. Bahrain Oil Concession; Bahrain Petroleum Company Limited (BAPCO) accounts, reports, recruitment, communications and business; Qatar Oil Concession; Saudi Arabia, Hasa Oil Concession; BAPCO rights on Bahrain additional area and Sitra Island; California Arabian Standard Oil Company (CASOC) communications; The 'Oil and Minerals' subject files contain maps of Bahrain, Qatar and the Persian Gulf, as well as technical drawings representing infrastructures for the oil extracting industry. A large number of documents are in Arabic, mostly with English translation.
