An Inquisition taken on Wednesday after the feast of Saint Chad Ao. 40 Edw. III whereby it was found that "Hugo de Venables miles" who now is purchased from John le Warde father if John le Warde Knight all the lands and tenements of the said John in Sprouston this David after whose death the aforesaid John entered the said premises which from him descended to John le Warde Knight his son and Heir who fearing that he might be disturbed in his possession thereof whilst he was on the Kings Service at Calais vested them in the hands of the Earl of Chester and that the said Earl was seized thereof in no other manner.
