Description (What the record is about)
-
Richd. How (Aspley) to
1. J. de Jager (Bergen) Thanks for description of capital of Norway - History of sycophantic addresses, use of singular & plural (vous & tu) as marks of respect etc. among all nations - Toleration in France - About agitation for abolition of slave trade: hopes to interest the van der Smissens who have considerable interest in Denmark & to engage their assistance in promoting abolition in Denmark & Holland - Rash speculations in cotton have ruin'd some capital houses ... yet one should imagine there was no want of money as a pack of foxhounds sold lately for 1020 guineas, horses from 1400 to (I think) 2500 guineas for a single stallion. Instances of extraordinary longevity
2. J. Jackson. Requesting him to try get his letter on the slave trade published by Nichols in his publication, if not in the Gentleman's Magazine.
