Black full-leather album, 274x390mm, containing mounted prints with handwritten captions. An inscription on the front fixed endpaper reads: 'P.B. Janson, Quetta, August 1922. Photographs from September 22nd 1921-1927'. The photographs are mainly snapshot views and portraits at various military camps. Print 1 Group of Baluchis. Prints 2-21 Journey to India, Sept 1921, from Southampton to Karachi, via the Suez Canal. Prints 22-48 Snapshot portraits and views at Quetta, 1922. Prints 49-90 Company camp scenes, 1922, at Kuchlak, Nigundi and Pishin, including portraits, camp life and troops on the march. Prints 91-108 Quetta, including general views of cantonment and portraits of British army officers. Prints 109-128 Miscellaneous views and portraits, 1922-23, including camps at Nowshera and Attock Fort. Prints 129-196 Kashmir, 1922, including views of Kohala, Uri, Domel, Rampur and the following Srinagar sites: Dal Lake, Maharaja's Palace, Nishat Bagh, Shalimar Bagh, Hari Parbat, Takht-i-Suleiman and Mar Canal bridges. Prints 197-199 Rawalpindi station and bazaar. Prints 200-218 Nowshera, 1923-24, including the 4th Bn 4th Bombay Grenadiers (109th Infantry) on parade, portrait of British and Indian officers, views at Dargai, Chakdarra and camp at Lawrencepur.
