Colin Newton worked in sales at Boosey & Hawkes. He began his career with Besson in 1954 and joined Boosey & Hawkes as part of the Besson/Boosey & Hawkes amalgamation in the 1960s. He retired from Boosey & Hawkes in 1984 as Wholesale Manager and subsequently worked in sales for E.J. Arnoled Percussion in Glasgow. He was also a cornet player and played for many years in his local brass band in Thorne, Yorkshire.
