Draft copy letter of William White, Grand Secretary to Admiral Sir Peter Parker

Letter of William White, Grand Secretary, Freemasons' Hall, Moderns' Grand Lodge, London to Admiral Sir P[eter] Parker, Portsmouth sending a replacement copy of the printed Grand Lodge proceedings and forwards respects from Lord Moira and James Heseltine who were present at the Grand Feast. The latter believe the best approach is to omit the Country Feast for the curent year until Parker can attend in person to prevent turbulent members of the Country Stewards' Lodge from disturbing the order and quiet of Grand Lodge. Seeks a letter as soon as possible from Parker expressing such views that could be shown to the Country Stewards at their forthcoming meeting.

Country Steward's Lodge was granted a warrant by the Moderns' Grand Lodge on 25 July 1789 and met as No. 540 at the Guildhall Coffee House, Gresham Street, London. In 1790 the Lodge moved to the Freemasons' Tavern, Great Queen Street, London. The Lodge was renumbered as No. 449 in 1792. The Lodge made its last payment in 1799 and lapsed about 1802.
