Description (What the record is about)
-
Development position: 127 hours running have been carried out during the period, making a total of 10,664 hours P.117 This engine was run with a new impeller for turbine disc cooling and the impeller failed by bursting after running 10 minutes at full power. The trouble was diagnosed as insufficient cooling of the impeller and the engine will be rebuilt by 25 August with more adequate cooling P.103 The RAE are satisfied with the tests we are doing with control stability on this engine, although we have not yet received their final report Turbo-starting tests Acceleration control Jet pipe temperature control Low oil pressure Acceleration conscious CSU Anti-icing Cracked mixing chambers Anti-carbon plates Clearance of propeller turbine engines for high-speed and high altitude flying RTO memos: X.25/1194/JAF The requirements of overhaul of P.116 before being returned for flight in our Wyvern have been noted X.18/1390/JAF While we are in agreement with the need in the near future for a further 150-hour modification approval test to clear up various modifications, we are strongly in disagreement with the suggestion in the memo that we have not carried out a satisfactory modification approval approval test on EEL.3 oil. This has been done and we are of the opinion that this oil has been cleared for use X.25/1273/JAF This memo refers to two failures on fuel pipe BJ.21533. Mr Dakin has agreed to submit a modification incorporating further clipping of this pipe X.7/1224/JAF ECU. this note points out that in view of the use of the term 'ECU' for Engine Change Unit, it is necessary for us to find a new name for our ECU. 'Anticipator' suggested by the MoS seems to be the best
