The Conant papers relating to the Lyndon Hall Estate in Rutland, fall into two parts. This deposit consists of the private letter books and correspondence of Abel Barker (1642-1665) and of the Barker family (1604-1827). Included are the letters of William Whiston.

Note: The Barker MSS. were listed by H. M. C. in the Appendix to the 5th Report pp. 387-404. At that time (1876) they belonged to the Rev. E. Field of Lancing College, Sussex who in 1901 arranged for them to be sent to Mr. E. N. Conant of Lyndon Hall, Rutland.
