FOURTEEN DISTRICTS OF THE TOWN OF MANCHESTER, As divided by the COMMISSIONERS under the POLICE ACT, AT A MEETING HELD AT THE BULL'S HEAD INN, On the 18th day of July, 1792
No.1. By the Name of the New Cross District, bounded on one Side by the New Cross and Ancoats-Lane on another Side by Newton-lane, and another Side by the River Medlock, comprizing within this District, all the Streets, Lanes, Passages and Places, contained within the Boundaries aforesaid.
No.2. By the Name of St. Michael's District, bounded on one Side by Newton-Lane aforesaid, on another Side by Swan-street and Millers'-lane, on another Side by Part of Long Millgate to Scotland Bridge, and along the River Irk, in which District are comprized all the Streets, Lanes, Passages and places within the Boundaries aforesaid.
No.3. By the Name of the Collegiate Church District, bounded on one Side by Scotland Bridge, and Part of Long Millgate, to and through Millers'-lane, on another Side by Shude-hill, Hanging-ditch, Cateaton street, down to Salford Bridge, on another Side by the River Irwell, in which District are comprized all the Streets, Lanes, Passages and Places within the Boundaries aforesaid, and on the North Side of the said Church.
No.4. By the Name of St. Clement's District, bounded on one Side by Ancoate-lane aforesaid, on another Side by Levers'-street, on another Side by Piccadilly, and on another Side by the River Hedlock, in which District are comprised all the Streets, Lanes, Passages and Places, with the boundaries aforesaid.
No.5. By the Name of St. Paul's District, bounded on one Side by Lever-street, on another Side by New Cross and Swan-street, on another Side by Shude-hill, Nicholas'-Croft, and High-street, and on another Side by Market-street-lane and Levers' row, in which District are comprised all the Streets, Lanes, Passages and Places within the Boundaries aforesaid.
No.6. By the Name of EXCHANGE District, bounded on one Side by Market-street-lane and St. Mary's Gate, on another side by Deansgate, on another Side by Cateaton-street, Hanging-ditch and Withy Grove, and on another Side by Nicholas's-croft and High-street, in which District are comprised all the Streets, Lanes, Passages and Places within the Boundaries aforesaid.
No.7. By the Name of MYNSHULL District, bounded on one Side by Piccadilly and Bank Top, on another Side by Garret-lane, on another Side by Brook-street, and on another Side by the River Medlock, in which District are comprized all the Streets, Lanes, Passages and Places within the Boundaries aforesaid.
No.8. By the Name of ST. JAMES'S District, bounded on one Side by Levers-row, on another Side by Garrot-lane, on another Side by Bond-street, and on another Side by Fountain-street, in which District are comprized all the Streets, Lanes, Passages and Places within the Boundaries aforesaid.
No.9. By the Name of ST.ANN'S District, bounded on one Side by St. Mary's Gate and Market-street-lane, on another Side by Fountain-street, on another Side by Brazen Nose-street and Princess-street, and on another Side by Deansgate, in which District are comprized all the Streets, Lanes, Passages and Places within the Boundaries aforesaid.
No.10. By the Name of OXFORD-STREET District, bounded on one Side by Bond-street and Brook-street, on another Side by Dawson-street, and a new Street not yet named, and on another Side by the River Medlock, in which District are comprized all the Streets, Lanes, Passages and Places within the Boundaries aforesaid.
No.11. By the Name of ST. PETER'S District, bounded on one Side by Dawson-street, and the said now Street not yet named, on another Side by the River Medlock, on another Side by Alport-street and Deansgate, and on another Side by Brazen Nose-street and Princess-street, in which District are comprized all the Streets, Lanes, Passages and Places within the Boundaries aforesaid.
No.12. By the Name of ST. MARY'S District, bounded on one Side by the Street from Salford Bridge, on another Side by Deansgate, on another Side by Bridge-street, and on another Side by the River Irwell, in which District are comprized all the Streets, Lanes, Passages and Places within the Boundaries aforesaid.
No.13. By the Name of OLD QUAY District, bounded on one side by Bridge Street Deansgate, on another Side by Quay-street, and on another Side by the River Irwell, in which District are comprized all the Streets, Lanes, Passages and Places within the Boundaries aforesaid.
No.14. By the Name of ST. JOHN'S District, bounded on one Side by Quay-street, on another side by Alport-street, on another Side by the Canal and River Medlock, and on another Side by the River Irwell, in which District are comprized all the Streets, Lanes, Passages and Places within the Boundaries aforesaid.
