Printed royal proclamations being strays from the Mayors' Files, q.v., where more of the proclamations are found from the early seventeenth century onwards. These proclamations relate to innumerable subjects, including trade, coinage, apprehension of felons, summoning and proroguing of parliament and the collection of taxes etc., together with a number of writs to the Mayor and Sheriffs of Chester concerning the publication of the same.
These proclamations and writs were bound by Lanacraft into one volume, and there are also a number of duplicate copies which he left unbound.
